JUITA (Jurnal Ilmiah Tafsir Alkitab) welcomes original scholarly contributions in the field of Biblical Studies, especially research related to the scholarly interpretation of biblical texts. Authors are encouraged to read the following submission information carefully before submitting a manuscript.

Beginning with Volume 3 Issue 1 April 2026, JUITA publishes articles entirely in English. All submissions must comply with the journal’s editorial, ethical, and technical requirements.

Author Guidelines

Authors must prepare manuscripts in accordance with the journal’s official template and editorial requirements. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.

  • Manuscripts must be written in clear academic English.
  • The manuscript file must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • The manuscript must follow the official JUITA article template.
  • The title must not exceed 15 words.
  • The abstract must be written in English, consist of 100–150 words, and be presented in one paragraph.
  • Authors must provide 3 to 5 keywords.
  • The manuscript must follow APA 7th Edition in formatting, in-text citations, and references.
  • Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley or Zotero.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Before submission, authors must ensure that the manuscript complies with the following requirements:

  • The submission has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • The manuscript fits the journal’s scope in Biblical Studies.
  • The manuscript is written in academic English.
  • The manuscript follows the official template and APA 7th Edition.
  • The manuscript contains at least 15 references, and 80% of the references come from journal articles published within the last 10 years, except where classical or foundational sources are necessary.
  • The manuscript has been checked for similarity, and substantial overlap has been addressed.
  • Where applicable, two separate files have been prepared: a Title Page and an Anonymous Manuscript for double-blind review.
  • All metadata in the submission system are complete and accurate.
  • Funding, conflict of interest, author contributions, and AI-assisted tool use have been disclosed where applicable.

Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned for correction or declined prior to peer review.

Peer Review Process

JUITA applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure the scholarly quality, originality, and integrity of every submission.

  • All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening.
  • Manuscripts that pass this stage are sent to at least two independent reviewers.
  • Reviewers evaluate originality, scholarly contribution, methodology or interpretive approach, clarity of argument, relevance to the field of Biblical Studies, and overall quality of presentation.
  • Possible editorial decisions are: Accept without revision, Accept with minor revisions, Reconsider after major revisions, or Reject.

Review Timeline:

  • Initial editorial screening: 1 week
  • Peer review process: 3–5 weeks
  • Final editorial decision: approximately 5–7 weeks after submission

The actual duration may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the extent of revisions required.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

Beginning with Volume 3, JUITA applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted manuscripts.

  • IDR 200,000 for authors in Indonesia
  • approximately USD 12 for international authors, subject to the prevailing exchange rate

The APC is charged only after acceptance. There is no submission fee and no review fee.

Authors should not make any payment until they receive an official notification of acceptance and payment instructions from the journal.

The names, email addresses, institutional affiliations, and other personal information entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of JUITA and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party, except as necessary for the editorial, peer review, publishing, indexing, and archiving processes of the journal.

By registering with and using this journal site, users consent to the collection and use of their personal information for the proper operation of the journal in accordance with its editorial and publishing functions.
