FOCUS AND SCOPE

Journal of Spirituality and Practical Theology (JOSAPRAT) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published biannually in January and July by Sekolah Tinggi Teologi Injili Indonesia Samarinda, East Kalimantan. The journal is committed to publishing high-quality, original research that explores the dynamic relationship between Christian spirituality and practical theology across various ecclesial, social, and cultural contexts.

JOSAPRAT aims to foster scholarly engagement that integrates theological reflection with the lived experience of faith and ministry. It serves as a platform for theologians, church leaders, educators, and practitioners to contribute to the academic and ecclesial discourse surrounding the development and application of Christian spiritual and theological principles.

All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, ensuring academic integrity, methodological soundness, and relevance to the field. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by other journals in any language.

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Christian Spirituality
In-depth studies on spiritual formation, devotional practices, personal and communal faith development, and the cultivation of Christian character.

  • Practical Theology and Ministry Studies
Explorations of pastoral ministry, liturgy, homiletics, catechetics, mission, and pastoral counseling, with a focus on their theological and contextual relevance.

  • Christian Leadership
Theological and practical reflections on leadership models within the church, and their role in ecclesial renewal and community transformation.

  • Christian Ethics and Social Engagement
Theological analysis of contemporary ethical, cultural, and social issues, including the church’s role in promoting justice, peace, and public witness.

  • Contextual and Interdisciplinary Theology
Interdisciplinary approaches to theology and spirituality that engage local, intercultural, and interfaith contexts, while remaining grounded in Evangelical theological commitments.

JOSAPRAT encourages submissions that demonstrate innovative perspectives, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary relevance, contributing meaningfully to the advancement of practical theology and Christian spirituality within the global academic community.
